The
Emirates Environmental Group, a local, non-profit organization is dedicated to
promoting civic awareness and community action to protect the local environment
of the UAE. By working at a local level, our efforts contribute to a much
larger goal, the protection of the world, in which we all live.

Mrs. Habiba Al Mar'ashi is a founding member of the Emirates
Environmental Group, which began in 1991 with 12 members. The EEG was formed
(and remains) as a voluntary, non-government organization. The group is open to
all nationalities and all ages. Mrs. Al Mar'ashi currently chairs a membership
of more than one thousand two hundred members (individuals, corporate groups,
schools, colleges & universities, government and international institutions).
Through her work with the EEG, Mrs. Al Mar'ashi aims to facilitate education and
awareness of local and global environmental issues across the community.
She seeks to promote positive action and to encourage individual and collective
responsibility for the preservation and protection of the environment. She
endeavours to collect and collate relevant information, making it available for
educational and research purposes.
Profile:
Since 1991, the Emirates Environmental Group has organized a variety of
public education forums and community projects aimed at increasing social
awareness about environmental issues that affect our every day lives.
Additionally the numerous community involvement projects from nationwide Can
Collection Campaigns to Clean up Drives, organized by the EEG, have produced
visible, measurable, contributions towards the improved quality of our local
environment.
Our commitment, too, to involve youth, of all nationalities, in environmental
protection programs and education will have far reaching and permanent effects
beyond the local community, as the concern towards environmental protection,
will most likely develop into a lifelong commitment.
We have been able to achieve considerable successes, in raising consciousness
and improving the environment, but only through the generous support of
corporations and individuals alike. But so much more is yet to be done. We have
ambitious goals for the year 2001 and to achieve them, we need the support of
organizations, like yours. Your Corporate Membership, together with our
programs, will enable us to work together for a better environment.
By becoming a corporate member, your organization will join an exclusive
network of organizations that have confirmed their commitment to "give
something back" not only to the local community, but to the global community as
well.
A number of benefits are extended to our corporate members. As a member, your
organization will have access to our environmental library and database, the
opportunity to present and speak at EEG organized seminars, attend EEG monthly
General meetings, receive monthly updates and bi-annually Wastepaper magazines
as well as participate in all our recycling projects. Your organization will
also be provided with a Certificate of Corporate Membership.
We have enclosed a Corporate Membership Form for your ready perusal and look
forward to welcoming your organization as a corporate member of the EEG.
Achievements :
Under Mrs. Al Mar'ashi's able stewardship, the Group went on from a fledgling
NGO to become a large conglomerate of like thinking, environment conscious
individuals and organisations working together for the realisation of
sustainable development in the country and abroad.
